Vaclav Havel

Václav Havel (1936 – 2011) was born in Prague, and was the first president of post-communist Czechoslovakia and the proceeding Czech Republic. In addition to his notoriety from a long history of Czech political involvement, he is regarded as one of the most influential European playwrights. His plays include The Memorandum, The Garden Party, Temptation, and Largo Desolato.
